"Sirs," said the monk, "this shield ought not be hanged about no knight's neck but he be the worthiest knight of the world, and therefore I counsel you knights to be well advised."
"Well," said Bagdemagus, "I wot well I am not the best knight in the world, but I shall essay to bear it," and so bare it out the minster; and then he said unto Galahad, "And it please you to abide here still, till ye wit how that I speed."
"I shall abide you," said Galahad.
Then Sir Bagdemagus mounted and the brethren lent him a squire to attend him and to bring tidings unto Sir Galahad how he sped.

INTRODUCTION

Tralis Elendy, the current Pendragon of Harbaal, celebrates his 72nd birthday in 720 TR. He hopes to establish a state wherein the main competition among his magnates is for positions at court, rather than territory and wealth by force of arms in the provinces. This year the Pendragon has declared one of his sons, Lerden, to be heir to the Harbaalese throne. Lerden immediately announced a set of virtues that more clearly define chivalry: a knight should be generous, energetic, modest, just, merciful and valorous. From this point forward, all knights will be ranked by how well they fit this ideal.

GAME MASTER'S INTRODUCTION
This is my third play-by-email campaign and is a story of the deeds of Knights. The setting is the Pendragondom of Harbaal as defined in "HârnWorld Shorkyne: Regional Expansion Module" by N. R. Crossby. The rules will be predominantly "Hârnmaster Gold Edition" by N. R. Crossby. The ideas of glory, traits and passions will be included from "King Arthur Pendragon: Epic Roleplaying in Legendary Britain" by Greg Stafford but they will be used only to measure how the players roleplay, never to modify character behavior.

So, if you want to join the party, send an email to the GM (see below) letting me know a little about the type of character that you want: select a clan name from Varden, Gos, Gathsen, Marensen, Geltsen, Paraden, Ledensen, Rustel, Pelanby, Stahlin, or Guline; select an available given name from female names or male names (I tend to treat female knights the same as male knights) and select a religion of Larani (to emphasize chaste, modest, forgiving, merciful, and temperate) or Sarajin (to emphasize generous, proud, worldly, indulgent and reckless). I'll create the character and their background and you can spend the option points however you want. Don't be concerned if your new to the Hârnmaster or Pendragon systems since I'll try to keep the game mechanics to a minimum. If there's anything you don't know about Hârnworld and you think your character knows, just ask. What I'm looking for is strong character concepts, good roleplaying and mutual fun.

NOTE: If you prefer to play a character that is not a knight, take a look at our Kaldor in Flames or Kaldor in Flames IIIcampaigns which have been going strong for several years.
