Money
There are six common types of currency: farthings, pennies, crowns, user notes, jewelry and barter. Serfs and
some commoners primarily use barter and seldom see currency. Most other commoners primarily deal with farthings
and pennies. User notes are used by mercantylers and their value depends on the reliability of the usurer that
issued them. The value of jewelry depends on the appraisal skills of the jeweler but plain silver or gold rings
are pretty reliable in value (silver is worth 3d 3f per dram, gold is worth 75d per dram, and rings are between 5
and 10 drams in weight). Khuzan Gold Crowns are worth 320d. The latter two are used by non-mercantylers wanting
to transport large sums. However, a very important fact of Harn is that it is illegal for anyone, other than a
mercantyler, to 'make change' and mercantyler's charge for the service. Therefore, crowns are only
used for big ticket purchases or exchanged for smaller coins at a mercantyler. Whenever you make purchase, you
should have the exact amount and tell me what currency you are using.
