Dedication to Dionysos
Father Διωνυσος [Deeo NEE sos],
who gives pleasure to garlanded banqueters and presides over cheerful feasts,
Διωνυσος Διμετορ
[Deeo NEE sos DEEM etor], whom in sacred Thebes the mother fair, Thyone, once to
Zeus did bear,
Ενορχες και
Ορθιος [Enor hes ke Orth ee os],
who loves, constantly, her who brings increase, the feeder of children, Peace,
Διωνυσος Βρομιος
[Deeo NEE sos VROM eeos], with no grudge of the great, nor scorn of the mean estate,
Ελευθερευς [El EF the rees],
giver of wine, griefless and immaculate, to all that live,
Βακχος [VAK hos],
helper in noble works who is only angered by those that spurn joy,
I, Dennis Dutton, borne of Ruby and sired by Clifford, named and blessed by you throughout my life,
who has given many libations in your name, who has sung your praises many times and who works to
bring about the renewed worship of the Immortal Olympians,
I dedicate myself to you as your priest, to learn what you will teach me and to teach your ways to
others. I will show others, by example, how to worship you in safety and how to use limited chaos to
bring balance into their lives. I ask you to keep me healthy, unharmed, not plagued by ghosts, free
from calamity and without terror, and to hear me during my lifetime.
Let that be my prayer.
