Hellenotamiai: Meeting Types.

Business Meetings:

Periodic business meetings are held to discuss the business and administration of the demos. Most of these are held in a public place and are open to all members. However, if the meetings are held in a private residence, all members must be approved by the host. No issues can be voted on, at any meeting where less than half of the active members are in attendance.

Adult Education:

As they become available, study courses (from the Adult Education and Adult Continuing Education series provided by Hellenion) will be taught to interested members. With the exception of the cost of educational materials, these courses will be free of charge. They will be provided to regular and minor members only.

Social/Emotional Support:

Up to once each month, members of the demos will be invited to meet for a social event. Possible examples include: dinner, movies, local events, sight seeing, etc. These social events can be before or after a business meeting or a religious festival but they are entirely social and separate from the meeting or festival. They are available for all members and their guests.

Guest Friendship:

More experienced members are encouraged to host one or two newer members as dinner guests periodically to provide guidance, address any issues and to generally increase feelings of trust, comfort, and belonging among the members. This is, however, voluntary and is paid for by the host member. These meetings are open by the invitation of the host only to members and a set number of guests (number of guests is also specified by the host).

Symposium:

People get together to share beverages, light snacks and polite conversation. The cost of the beverages and snacks is shared equally by all participants (no matter how much each person consumes). The topic of conversation is announced with the invitation and deals with a single issue of ancient Hellenic culture, Hellenic polytheism, Hermetic Magic or a similar subject - and how those issues apply to modern life. Due to laws about alcohol comsumption and since most of these meetings are held in private residences, attendance is only open to those who respond and are approved by the host (this includes any guests).
